Prof. Katy Vincent is an Associate Professor and the Senior Fellow in Pain in Women in the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health, University of Oxford and a Consultant Gynaecologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. She studied medicine at King’s College, London and undertook postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, obtaining her CCT in 2015. She took time out of clinical training to undertake a DPhil with Professor Irene Tracey’s Pain Imaging Neuroscience group investigating hormonal influences on the pain experience and continued her academic work in parallel with her clinical training as an NIHR Clinical lecturer. Katy’s predominant clinical interest is Chronic Pelvic Pain, particularly in association with endometriosis and in teenagers/younger women. She leads the Pain in Women research group, who use a variety of methodologies to explore mechanisms generating and maintaining pain in women. A key focus of the group, in collaboration with the EndoCaRe Centre in Oxford, is mechanisms of endometriosis-associated pain. Katy was the academic lead of the IMI-2 funded TRiPP project investigating pain pathways in endometriosis and bladder pain syndrome and is chair of the IASP SIG on Abdominal and Pelvic Pain.
