David is a GP and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He is Academic Lead for the “Scottish Deep End Project”, comprising GPs working in the most socio-economically disadvantaged communities in Scotland.  He has been involved in teaching, research and advocacy related to the social determinants of health and health inequalities since 2010. 

His qualifications include a BSc in International health from UCL (2003), MBChB from the University of Dundee (2005), MPH (2012) and PhD (2018) from the University of Glasgow. He has expertise in realist and mixed methods research and is interested in the interface of primary care and public health and, in particular, in the role of primary care in mitigating health inequalities.
