Dr Kemp is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Anaesthetics Pain Medicine & Intensive Care at Imperial College London. She is an Honorary Consultant in Pain Medicine at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
Her main research interests are the long term, pain-related, outcomes associated with traumatic injury and critical illness. She works with the Armed Services Trauma and Rehabilitation Outcome Study (ADVANCE) to understand persistent pain following combat injury.
She also leads the PainCRITICAL study, investigating potential markers for the development of pain following critical care admission.
Her studies include sensory profiling through quantitative sensory testing, identification of blood and tissue-based markers, and patient reported outcomes. She has also led systematic review work identifying pain prevalence and risk factors for pain following traumatic injury.
